01 — THE SHORT VERSION
What NoiseTape is.
NoiseTape plays one steady sound, or a mix of up to eight, for as long as you need it: rain on a tent, a fan, brown noise, a river. The app keeps every sound on the device, so it plays offline, and its sleep timer fades the sound out over the final minute instead of cutting it off.

02 — WHERE THE SOUNDS COME FROM
Recordings, and synthesized noise.
Most of the library is recorded sound: rain, water, wind, fire, animals, places and machines, captured with a microphone. The noise colors (white, pink, brown and their relatives) are synthesized signals, not recordings. Each of the sound guides labels which is which.
Every sound is edited into a loop with no audible gap, click or fade at the seam, and the browser versions are checked for seams before each release. The guides also chart each sound’s measured frequency profile, calculated from the same files you hear.
